January 2021-We are excited to announce that the expansion project of Parkland Community Library’s Walbert Avenue Campus is near completion. We are in the final stages of renovation which entails installing bookcases, furniture deliveries, and moving from our temporary location at the Roma Building to the newly renovated library campus at 4422 Walbert Avenue. We are expecting to be closed all of February. Please do not contact South Whitehall Township at the Roma building for library updates as the township does not have anything to do with our day-to-day operations. Please note, our staff may be reached by email. General library questions may be sent to info@parklandlibrary.org. See the alert bar at the top of this page for the flexible moving timeline.

Do not enter the campus until we announce our official opening. ***

Once the Roma Suite is closed, all library operations at this location will cease. Do not try to enter the Roma Suite upon its closure. Book drops will not reopen until further notice.

Phones: On or about Saturday, January 30, the phone lines will be disconnected and transferred back to the Walbert Avenue Campus. If you can not get through, we have closed. Voicemail will not be available. Staff may be reached by email.

Returns: Returns will not be accepted at the Parkland Community Library locations after January 18, 2021. Items currently have a due date of April 2. Hold your items until we alert you of our reopening. If you want your items checked in, return them to another co-op library. The Library shall not be responsible for any materials left outside of the suite or closed book drops. If any materials are lost, damaged, or stolen that were left outside the suite, the patron will be held accountable.

Fines: Fines are waived during the transition period.  

Lost/Damaged Items: Patrons are responsible for lost or damaged items. 

Using the LCLC for Library Services

Patrons will be able to check out items from other LCLC libraries during our closure. Patrons should first check the other libraries’ websites or call before visiting. Available services vary by library (in-person, pickup only, etc.) due to COVID-19 procedures.

An LCLC card is needed to check out items from the library network. E-books are still available, too! Give Libby, Hoopla, and CloudLibrary a try.

To renew, send an email to circulation@parklandlibrary.org with the following information. All information must be current.
First and last name, library card number, phone number, email address, and street address, including apartment number or PO Box if applicable.

Lost and New Cards: Apply on our website.

COVID-19 Guidelines for Visiting Parkland Community Library

Due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases, Parkland Community Library has moved to suite side pick up only. Computer use and browsing appointments are suspended until further notice.

LIBRARY HOURS

 Monday-Friday: 9 AM-12 PM and 1-6 PM, and Saturday: 9 AM-12 PM.

With our temporary move to the Roma Building, Parkland Community Library would like to remind patrons that we have limited phone lines until our return to the Walbert Avenue Campus. If you call and both lines are busy, please try back, or you can contact the library by e-mail at info@parklandlibrary.org. Requests may also be made for return calls using e-mail.

RETURNS

Returns should be dropped off outside Suite 302 in the designated bins.
You may only drop off items during designated library hours.

There will be no drop-off bins in the Roma Building outside of library hours. The Library shall not be responsible for any materials left outside of the suite after hours. If any materials are lost, damaged, or stolen that are left outside the suite when no bins are present, the patron will be held accountable.

The North Whitehall Township book drop will remain CLOSED until further notice.

Following CDC guidelines, returned items are held for 7 days before being checked in. 

New Automatic Renewals!
For LCLC items that have no holds, they may be automatically renewed twice by our system.
Note: if someone else has placed a hold on an item, it must be returned.

MASKS REQUIRED AND SOCIAL DISTANCING

Have your mask in place before you enter the Roma Building. Maintain social distancing by putting space (at least 6 feet) between yourself and others. Patrons should sanitize their hands upon arrival at the library. For the safety of all, we ask that people who feel ill, do not come inside.

PATRON EXPECTATIONS

  • Per CDC and State Public Health guidelines, patrons are required to wear masks and have them in place before entering the Roma Building.

  • Maintain social distancing by putting space (at least 6 feet) between yourself and others.

  • Patrons should sanitize their hands upon arrival at the library. Restrooms are located to the right when facing the 3 elevators.

  • Patrons who are visibly sick or coughing/sneezing excessively will be asked to leave the Roma Building.

RESERVING MATERIALS/PICKUP APPOINTMENTS

How do I put books on hold?

  1. Go online to My Account and log into your library account, using your full library card number and pin number.

  2. Search the library catalog for your items.

  3. Click "Place Hold".

  4. Fill out the information for pick up location and notification options. 

  5. Click "Submit".

  6. Alternatively, you may call a librarian to place items on hold for you during library hours. Phone service will only be available until about January 30th.

How do I pick up my books?

  1. Once the items you placed on hold are ready, a library staff member will call you to set up a pick up time. You will be given a one hour window to pick up your materials during our open hours.
  2. When you arrive at the Roma Building, please come to the third floor, suite 302. You will be given your materials at the door. All items will already be checked out to your account.
  3. If you arepicking up items at another LCLC library, please contact them directly for pickup procedures.  

PROGRAMMING

Virtual programs are available for all ages, listed on our website under the ATTEND tab for childrenteens, and adults. In-person library programs and volunteer programs are suspended. We will reevaluate the situation in the spring. We encourage you to check our website and social media for more information on virtual programs and library services being offered.
