Green Phase Guidelines for Visiting Parkland Community Library
at 1605 N. Cedar Crest Blvd. The Roma Building Suite 302.

Appointments are being scheduled for the pick-up of reserved materials, browsing the collection, and in library computer use. Please call 610-398-1361 to schedule your appointment. 

Appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes. 

8/24 New Computer Time Extensions
Patrons using the computer may have their time extended for one additional hour. Computer use is still by appointment only. We can only extend time based on availability, when there is no one signed up in the following appointment slot.

Library hours for appointments are:
Monday-Friday: 9 AM-12 PM and 1-6 PM, and Saturday: 9 AM-12 PM.

Returns 

Returns can be made during the above hours at the Roma Building Suite 302.
Book drops at NorthWhitehall Municipal Building and Walbert Avenue site are closed until further notice.
Following CDC guidelines, returned items are held for 7 days before being checked in.

Social Distancing and Masks Required

Be sure to have your mask in place before you enter the Roma Building. Social distancing must be observed indoors. For the safety of all, we ask that people who feel ill, do not come inside.

PATRON EXPECTATIONS

  • Patrons must place holds online or with the reference librarian first, and make an appointment for pick up.
  • Per CDC and State Public Health guidelines, patrons are required to wear masks and have them in place before entering the Roma Building.
  • Patrons should sanitize their hands upon arrival at the library. Restrooms are located to the right when facing the 3 elevators.
  • Temperature checks will be performed using a temporal thermometer prior to entering the suite.
  • Patrons who are visibly sick or coughing/sneezing excessively will be asked to leave the library.
  • Patrons must maintain social distancing of six feet at all times.
  • Public computer sessions will be limited to provide equitable access for all patrons.
  • Unattended children are not allowed in the library (see the Unattended Child Policy).
  • No food or drinks will be allowed inside the suite.

Pick Up

All materials will be quarantined per CDC guidelines of 7 days before being checked in and reshelved. Keep in mind, it will take longer for staff to prepare requests. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

We recommend limiting your checkouts to 5 adult items and 10 children’s items.

How do I put books on hold?

  1. Go online to My Account and log into your library account, using your full library card number and pin number.
  2. Use the library catalog to find the items you would like!
  3. Click "Place Hold".
  4. Fill out the information for Pickup Location and Notification options. 
  5. Click "Submit".
  6. Alternatively, you may call a librarian to place items on hold for you during the hours listed above. 


How do I pick up my books?

  1. Once the items you placed on hold are ready, a library staff member will call you to set up a pick up time. You will be given a one hour window to pick up your materials during our open hours.

  1. When you arrive at the Roma Building, please come to the third floor, and knock on the door of Suite 302. We will give you a paper bag with your materials at this time. 

Returns: Book Drops will Remain Closed

Returns should be dropped off outside Suite 302 in the designated bins. You may only drop off items during designated library hours.

There will be no drop-off bins in the Roma Building outside of library hours. The Library shall not be responsible for any materials left outside of the suite after hours. If any materials are lost, damaged, or stolen that are left outside the suite when no bins are present, the patron will be held accountable.

The North Whitehall Township book drop will remain CLOSED until further notice.

Programming

In-person library programs and volunteer programs are suspended until further notice. We will reevaluate the situation in the fall. We encourage you to check our website and social media for more information on virtual programs and library services being offered. We are offering virtual programs for all ages, listed on our website under the ATTEND tab for childrenteens, and adults
