It's Never Too Early to Start Visiting the Library!

What is My First Library Card?

Our My First Library Card program is a way to start your child on the path to adulthood! With some guidance and a library card, children can learn about responsibility and how to be thoughtful members of society.

Who Can Get a Card & What Privileges Does it Grant?

  • All children, birth through the age of 4, who reside in the Parkland School District are eligible. The child's parent/caregiver must also have an active, valid Lehigh Carbon Library Cooperative (LCLC) library card.
  • Cardholders are allowed to borrow up to 20 books from our Juvenile print collection at a time. Items are checked-out for three weeks and do not incur any overdue fees.
  • My First Library Card is only accepted at the Parkland Community Library.

How Do I Sign-Up My Child?

Stop by the library (click here to see when we're open) and bring with you your little one, your photo ID, and proof of address if your photo ID is not current.

How Can I Find Out More?

Pamphlets about My First Library Card are available at the library. Please contact our Circulation Desk by phone at (610) 398-1361 x15 for more information.
