MASKS REQUIRED: Effective 8/11/21 Parkland Community Library is now requiring masks regardless of vaccination status for everyone aged 2 and up due to the recent surge of COVID-19 Delta variant in Lehigh County. Masks and/or face coverings must be worn inside the library and worn during all indoor library programs on or offsite.

CURBSIDE PICK-UP IS AVAILABLE for those who cannot wear a mask, and for anyone else who would like to use this service. If you need a mask, please request one at the circulation desk. Thank you for your cooperation!

Dan Schantz Friends of the PCL Fundraiser

Beginning September 1, 2021, The Friends of PCL will be selling Dan Schantz's Monthly Madness Cards at PCL's circ desk and in the Friends' Book Room (when it's open). With this card, you will be able to pick up a special #gardening treat at Dan Schantz each month for an entire year!

Each monthly special will be displayed at clearly marked tables at Dan Schantz's Greenhouse, 2031 29th Street, SW in Allentown (located just off Lehigh Street). You MUST have your "Monthly Madness Card" with you to obtain your monthly item!! If you forget to redeem a monthly item, save your card and bring it back that same month the following year and you will be able to get it then. The cards do not expire! 

These cards will be available for purchase on Wednesday, September 1, and will continue to be sold until our limited supply of "Monthly Madness Cards" is gone. Cost: $20. Cash or checks (payable to Friends of PCL) can be accepted. They're sure to sell quickly, especially since they are a unique gift for that hard-to-buy-for person. Any questions about this fundraiser? 2021 Scholarship in Honor of Alice Madden and Norm Dietrich

We are pleased to announce our 2021 scholarship winners!

On July 6, 2021, The Friends of PCL hosted their Norm Dietrich and Alice Madden Scholarship Contest winners ceremony at PCL. Each winner received a $500 scholarship from the fundraising group. Congratulations to Kayla Tivner, Angelina Roccamo, and Hannah Sarmir.

Kayla Tivner, a PCL Circulation Desk Assistant, will finish her second year at LCCC in Spring 2022, obtaining her Associate’s Degree in Communications.

Angelina Roccamo finished her first year at LCCC as a part of LCCC’s Honors Scholars Program and is going into her second year at LCCC, obtaining her Associate’s Degree in Psychology in Spring 2022.

Hannah Sarmir will be entering her Junior year at the University of Delaware with a major in Marine Biology.

Special thanks to scholarship committee members Ila Dietrich, president; Pat Elliott, and Lorna Rabe.

About The Scholarship

An annual scholarship created in memory of Alice Madden and Norman Dietrich awards $500 prizes to individuals every spring. The next chance to apply is Spring 2022.

The Friends Scholarship is available to Parkland Community Library's teen volunteers, all 2022 graduates, and graduating seniors that are continuing their educational pursuits. The teens must have volunteered with The Friends of the Library or Parkland Community Library. The scholarship is also open to library staff members who are continuing their education.
